This dish is always a hit, it is one of my hubby’s favourites it is an excellent addition for a braai. You can serve it with something cooked indoors as well, it goes well with sausages, pork chops and even meat balls.

Ingredients – Enough for 4 – 6 people

  • 6 potatoes
  • 3 sweet potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 50 grams of butter – more or less
  • 50 ml of oil – more or less
  • Salt to taste

Method
Peel and slice the potatoes, sweet potatoes and onion into chunks. Mix these together in an oven safe dish, drizzle the oil over and place the butter on top, toss around so that everything is covered with oil. Sprinkle some salt over, cover with foil and pop into the oven at 200 C, depending on your oven, bake for 60 – 90 minutes. Stir a couple of times, when the potatoes are soft you can remove the foil and let it brown. I’ve noticed that this dish cooks faster in a gas oven than in an electrical oven.
