A short while ago I wrote an into post about a new range of shampoos and conditioners available in South Africa that are both sulfate and paraben free as well as being extremely affordable. You can read my intro into the Zero range and why it’s better to use sulfate and paraben free products on your hair over here!

Today I’m going a little deeper into each of the products I received from them for review starting with the Caffeine Shampoo.

Shampoo 3

The Caffeine shampoo is specially formulated to help with hair loss by penetrating the bulb of the hair, giving it more strength and power, increasing its lifespan. With daily use the Caffeine Shampoo should decrease hair loss. I’ve been struggling with severe hair loss the past year, I have tried different products for this, some pretty pricey, but as soon as I stop the hair loss comes back, and with the hefty price tag it’s impossible to keep using on a permanent basis. This all changed with the Zero Range. This shampoo is extremely affordable (costing under R100 for a 250ml bottle) and I’ve noticed lesser and lesser hair stuck to my fingers while washing the longer I’ve been using this product.

The shampoo itself is colourless and it smells faintly like medicine, it lathers pretty well for a sulfate free product, it leaves my hair feeling clean and soft. I’ve been using this together with the Argan Oil conditioner. Caffeine Shampoo has also shown to work better with daily use, so no more guilt for daily hair washing! According to my hairdresser my hair loss is due to stress and peach fuzz is emerging so my entire hair cycle hasn’t been interrupted completely, growing hair is no child’s play and I accepted the fact that it will take a really long time to grow back in its full glory – just think about how long it takes a baby to grow hair….

Next up we have the Purple Shampoo, I’ve been alternating using the Caffeine Shampoo during the week and the Purple Shampoo over weekends.

Shampoo 2

If you’re a blonde or  have highlights on darker hair, you know that over time the colour can turn an icky shade of mellow yellow or copper tones can shimmer through. This is where purple shampoo comes in. Purple is the exact opposite to yellow on the colour wheel, this balancing out the yellow and copper tones in your hair leaving you a bouncing blonde! I’ve been loving my blonde hair more and more after each wash with this shampoo, it’s really lifted my hair’s tones. If you really struggle with yellow/copper in your hair you can even let the shampoo sit in your hair a while before rinsing.

This shampoo is a bit more liquidy than the average shampoo and is bright purple in colour with a pleasant fragrance, same as the Caffeine Shampoo it lathers really well leaving my hair clean and soft. I’ve been using the Argan oil conditioner together with this shampoo as well.

Last but not least I’ve been trying the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, using the shampoo over weekends and the conditioner daily with the Caffeine Shampoo.

Shampoo 4

Argan oil, is a product of the Moroccan argan tree, it’s extracted from the kernels to be used as a moisturiser, conditioner and softener for skin and hair. Containing large amounts of beneficial nutrients including vitamin E and fatty acids, which have many positive effects making it one of the best things to use for dry and frizz prone hair. This shampoo leaves my hair extremely soft and manageable.

This shampoo is really liquidy with a gold tint. It smells really nice and lathers well for a paraben free shampoo just like the other two.

The conditioner is thick and creamy with an off white colour, you don’t need to use a lot to cover your hair and is the prefect addition for all 3 shampoos.

Hi-Care Beauty Care is currently running a giveaway on their facebook page with R200 hampers up for grabs, so show them some facebook love! The Zero range is available at selected salons, Checkers and Dischem stores ranging in price from R60 – R80.
